Bristol and Bath Railway Path

This 13 mile walking and cycling route runs from central Bristol to Pulteney Bridge in Bath and is built on the bed of the former Midland Railway. The trail is flat, traffic free and much of it is tree-lined. There are artworks and places to stop for refreshments along the path.

Warmley Waiting Room, Bristol

Warmley Waiting Room is right on the Bristol to Bath Railway Path so it’s a good place to stop for coffee or a bite to eat when you’re out for a walk or bike ride. The original waiting room has been given a new lease of life as a café – family run, in a rather charming setting with seating indoors, on the platform or in the gardens.

Bath Skyline Walk, Bath

High up above the city streets, this Explore the 6 mile walk has the most stunning views of Bath and the surrounding countryside. Take a detour to the landscaped gardens at Prior Park, to the American Museum or to Widcombe village. Stop for eats in a pub or café, or take a picnic.

Arnos Vale, Bristol

A stroll around a cemetery might not be everyone’s idea of a good walk, but this is a very special place with a unique atmosphere and an overwhelming sense of tranquility. There are leafy woodlands and flower meadows, a café and terrace, and a gift shop.

Two Brass Mills Circular Walk

This 4 mile (2.5km) Riverside Heritage Walk can be started from the doorstep at Bluehaven and will take about an hour and a half. It follows the banks of the Avon around Saltford Brass Mill, and part of the Bristol and Bath Railway Path, taking in riverboats and wildlife.

River Avon Trail, Somerset

This 23 mile walking trail follows the River Avon from Pill in North Somerset to Pulteney Bridge in Bath, with some parts suitable for cycling or horse riding. See the Avon Gorge, the city architecture and the astonishingly beautiful countryside of the Avon Valley.

Kelston Roundhill, Kelston, Bath

This wooded hill is an easy walk from Saltford and has breathtaking panoramic views that roll on for miles and miles. On a clear day you can see the Wiltshire Downs, the Mendip Hills, and across both Severn Bridges into Wales and the Black Mountains.
