If you’re staying at Bluehaven during April to October you can go paddleboarding on the River Avon with Bath Paddleboard Centre. This is a great activity for families, hen and stag parties, and for corporate team building – just imagine standing on your board, all that spectacular scenery around you, clear skies overhead…
What they offer is paddleboard hire and lessons from 1.5 to 3 hours long, with qualified and experienced instructors teaching one-to-one or in groups of 10. With the Taster Sessions you’ll learn the basics of standing up on a board until you’re feeling confident and raring to go; they’ll show you how to get on and off the board safely, all about body position and balance, paddle strokes and basic turns, progressing to fun and games.
Round off your session with a drink and a bite to eat at one of the riverside pubs in Saltford.

Don’t worry if you’ve never tried paddleboarding - you’ll get an Adventure Expert to show you the basics, getting you out on the water, standing safely on your board and giving you the confidence to paddle past historic buildings, under bridges and along scenic riversides with the most amazing views. They also do giant SUP experiences, raft building, and kayaking by day or evening. This is an unforgettable experience, best rounded off with lunch or dinner at one of Bath’s many restaurants. A brilliant thing to do when you’re staying just a few miles away at Bluehaven.

West Country Games, Flax Bourton, Bristol
West Country Games has to be up there on your list for outdoor and indoor activities when you’re staying at Bluehaven, especially for stag and hen parties. In the nicest possible way this is absolutely bonkers, and you’ll have a barrel load of fun; to boot, you’ll most likely be spending the day outside in the glorious fresh air surrounded by the Somerset countryside – gurt lush, innit?
They have a very unique take on activities – West Country themed games, ooo-arrr, ooo-arrr! And these are such hilarious antics, with the likes of Mangold Dangling, Welly Wanging, The Cider Run, Pitchfork Duelling and Vicky Pollard Handbags. Play outside from March to October when the sun is more likely to have his hat on, or indoors in the barn style sports hall from October to March when he’s not playing ball.
This really is a brilliant idea for birthdays as well, and we’d highly recommend fancy dress, keeping in with the theme. Every member of your group gets to play all 9 games, and you’ll have an Activity Host to keep scores and take photos; at the end of the day, there are prizes to be handed out. Bear in mind that no under 18’s are allowed on site and that the games are not suitable for anyone who is pregnant.
